The 2008 global financial crisis prompted a tectonic shift in the Spanish model, which was based on debt-driven homeownership society. In aftermath of crash, restructuring real estate and market through intervention government has been privileged object urban analysis, with scholars researching role Management Company for Assets Arising from Bank Reorganization (SAREB) investment trusts (REITs) deleveraging overhang nonperforming mortgages banks. This focus nonetheless led to neglect central privately funded asset management companies (AMCs) Spain, have not figured highly discussions about post-2008-financial-crisis housing restructuring. this article, emanates larger study examining re-setting relations between actors I argue that research should pay more attention AMCs. contend AMCs function as operational infrastructures financialization behalf funds, they transform into income-producing assets sector. Analyses also help us better understand REITs owned by funds. Through detailed examination institutional structure links channels, introducing key at nexus such link, article outline operations emerging housing/financial complex Spain crisis.
